Part 2: Grammar Explanations (Resumen Gramatical)

1. SER, ESTAR, and HAY

HAY (There is / There are): Used to talk about existence and quantity.
Example: Hay un reloj en la pared. (There is a clock on the wall.)

ESTAR (Location / State): Used for where things or people are located or how they feel temporarily.
Example: La silla está en el balcón. (The chair is on the balcony.) / Estoy mareado. (I feel dizzy.)

SER (Description / Identity): Used for essential characteristics, identity, or definitions.
Example: La calle es ancha. (The street is wide.) / Mi casa es grande. (My house is big.)

2. Question Words (Palabras Interrogativas)

In Spanish, all question words have a written accent mark (tilde) and questions must start with an inverted question mark (¿).

¿Qué?: What? (Used for definitions or general info).

¿Cuál?: Which / What? (Used for choices from a set, e.g., your specific name or phone number).

¿Dónde?: Where? (Used for location).

¿Cómo?: How? / What is it like? (Used for condition, appearance, or description).

¿Cuánto/a/os/as?: How much / many? (Agrees in gender and number with the noun described).

Instructions: Read the Spanish dialogue below between Vicky and Mandy. Answer True (V) or False (F) for each statement and provide a brief justification in Spanish or English.
