PARTE 1: ¿Qué es el Subjuntivo? (Modo vs. Tiempo Verbal)
PART 1: What is the Subjunctive? (Mood vs. Tense)
The subjunctive is a mood reflecting the speaker's internal attitude (wishes, emotions, doubts, recommendations about hypothetical actions). While the indicative states objective facts and certainties ("She lives here"), the subjunctive reflects a desired, subjective, or unfulfilled reality ("I want her to live here").

The Two-Subject Rule
The subjunctive is ONLY used when the subject of the main clause is different from the secondary clause:
- Mismo sujeto: "Yo quiero estudiar español" (Yo quiero / Yo estudio ➔ Infinitivo directo).
- Dos sujetos distintos: "Yo quiero que tú estudies español" (Yo quiero / Tú estudias ➔ Subjuntivo).
